Weekend
Another weekend travelling up and down the M4 to Newbury to spend my days in the marquee with a highly organised Tina surrounded by thousands of rosettes and hundreds of trophies.
Mid Downs members seemed to have had a really good weekend with places gained by many members. All those points to be entered, we must surely be going up the league. I was not at all of the presentations (and I had difficulty hearing the tannoy when I was otherwise engaged and out of earshot) so profound apologies if I have missed anyone again, but please feel free to correct me.
The Mid Downs teams have always achieved a place this year, including two seconds, and this weekend saw the Mid Downs Blacks attain 6th and 9th places, and the Mid Downs Blues achieve 7th. Well done.
Individually, I can remember seeing Karen Richardson, Marc Saunders, Margie Fielding, Bill and Lesley Chaffe, Don and the trio of Shapland's receiving their rosettes and trophies.
Being quite exhausted at the end of Saturday (we had our granddaughter staying Friday night), Don and I left before the finals were held. But many congratulations to Woody and Hannah Shapland for winning the Olympia 3-5 qualifier.
Tricia has maintained the winning Gempaws streak this weekend as Blaze won Grade 3 Agility.
Marc Saunders spent the whole day on Sunday judging. Fortunately the weather remained clement and Mid Downs members plus a few others acted as Marc's ring party, ably 'organised' by Chris Harvey as the Ring Manager.
I can remember seeing Malcolm Saunders trudging back and forth the ring with stopwatch clasped tightly in one hand, he must have covered miles over the weekend and worn holes in his shoes! I saw Helen as she trudged in to the marquee with results sheets, as she was another one of the Ring Managers.
Barrie looked totally exhausted, I even found him sitting in a corner with an old bag on Saturday, and that was only at lunchtime. Cat and Jan were preoccupied with ladling prawns and tomatoes etc. as well as Cat competing.
Agility competition - I didn't see any.........
