Carn Brae Show Report – 5 April 2009
Another remote venue for the Middowners being 280 miles from Burstow Park, so if you are going to this one you have to be a pot hunter. Me? Surely not.
Being just south of Redruth, Stithians is a dedicated showground, a bit like a mini Ardingly, with reasonable running ground, loads of exercise area and top notch toilet facilities. The weather on the day was excellent.
Numbers in this part of the world are down considerably with only 30 dogs in the large 6/7 although the large 1-3 group still managed nearly 200 dogs and the G3 100 dogs, although it is fair to say that IMO this group was weaker than our regional group and it will interesting what Kez’s results, with a 2nd and a 4th, will be once the heat of competition starts in the South East. On the other side, in the 6/7 Jet with a clear round in a straight forward jumping round was not in the first ten times.
It was nice to see Ex Mid Downs member Sandy Thompson with daughter Catherine who passed on their regards to everyone. I gave them an update on the gossip which, of course, is always greeted with gasps of despair or delight, especially when they have been outside the loop for the last six months! No I am not prepared to say what gossip I talked about.
